Reflections

My face is getting lines
My body wearing thin<o:p></o:p>
The outside is my armor<o:p></o:p>
To protect all that is within.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Sometimes I am laughing<o:p></o:p>
While inside I am dieing<o:p></o:p>
Outside there’s a smile<o:p></o:p>
Covering the inside crying.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
My soul reaches out<o:p></o:p>
For the girl buried deep inside<o:p></o:p>
Robbed of her innocence<o:p></o:p>
The pain made her hide.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
My heart cries loudly<o:p></o:p>
For the sons that are gone<o:p></o:p>
There is a lot of pain<o:p></o:p>
Even after this long<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
When I die, I hope they say<o:p></o:p>
This life I survived it all<o:p></o:p>
Even when I was run down<o:p></o:p>
I refused to let myself fall.<o:p></o:p>

If You Knew Me

If you knew me
Would you walk down the country lane
Would you share your dreams
At night whisper my name?

If you knew me
Would you hold me at night
Talk for hours
But never fight?

If you knew me
Would life still be fun
Would you give me your heart
And never run?

If you knew me
Would you be proud
Would my words be heard with feeling
And your laughter be loud?

If you knew me
Would I also know you

Angel and the Icewolf!

Written: 4/7/2003 10:00 PM
The Angel sat once again on the Mountain where they met, silently remembering a heart of ice melting into a heart of gold. Oh how she wished to see him again just to see his smile once more!!
Oh how her heart ached for the gentleness of one so dear.
She remembered quite well the day they met upon this very mountain.......He with his heart dark and unhappy and her just sitting on her cloud watching his self destruction.......
How she just had to come down to ease his crying soul.
His eyes had sparkled when he saw her golden wings drift toward him from above......
How her glow washed away his dark heart replacing it with one of pure happiness!!
How she now wished to see that smile once again, but that is not to be! He was in no need of her no more........His heart had filled to overflowing with happiness!!
Yet still she longed to see him one last time, just for a gentle hug or two.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gathered her strength to make her final flight!
One last look at that mountain top and through tears of pain and a broken heart she made her way back to the cloud from which she began!
Secretly hoping to one day to be drawn again from her safe cloud to help an Icewolf in a land far away!!
Away she flew as she had arrived gently like the wind........
Forever remembering The Angel and The Icewolf!!

Written: 8/25/2003 1:53 PM
From her cloud the Angel sighed and was inspired to take a peek upon the mountain she so adored,
When suddenly from out of nowhere she saw him!
She gasped not believing what she saw.
She had to look again.... Her eyes flew open wide and faster than eagles she flew to the mountain.
For indeed there he was, her precious Icewolf of long ago.
Oh how she had missed his gentleness, his kind inspiring words, she was speechless!
Slowly she began to speak and suddenly it was like time had stopped, all her memories kept flooding back.
Time flew by so quickly and soon her icewolf had to leave. She was sad to see him go but happy that once again her heart leaped for joy at the sight of one so dear!
A promise to meet again soon was made and off her dear icewolf from whence he had arrived. And with a new happy heart, the Angel floated back to the clouds to wait for his return..
She sat for a moment and drank every drop of their conversation, submitting every word into her memory!
Her icewolf had returned, she had not expected this miracle of hope.
She sat upon her cloud with a permanent smile upon her face, one that had not been there for so long she thought it was lost. To find it again after all this time was truely a vision of the greatest of all miracles.

Miracle of Hope....Has now returned!

Tis I to speak of such miracle of hope.
Never had I expected to see thee again.
A knight in shining armor, of that I am certain.
This miracle truely needed at time when sadness seemed to be winning.
Tis joy and happiness felt when thee are near.
The stars above much brighter since thy return.
Rivers run much gentler now that yer here by my side.
Tears flow gently down my soft cheeks at the thought of you being once again in my presence.
I sigh at the memory of thee upon the mountain, waiting for the vision from the clouds.
Tis me who also sits upon this cloud waiting til our next meeting.
Take care dear sweet miracle of hope.

A Special Gift of words to a special Icewolf!

What beauty lies in a wolf of ice...kind hearted and true is the soul within.
Nothing to compare with the specialness within this heart of a golden wolf.
Tis an Angel that has brought this gift upon a wolf so dear, so sweet, so full of words of sweet melody.
Speechless to no end of such beauty hidden within this Icewolf.
The beauty that lies in this Icewolf is one not to ever be surpassed!
It's a gift from an Angel, ever so sweet to bestow these special words to one so dear.
"Dear sweet Icewolf,
you're the dearest of souls; One I'll forever hold closest to my heart!!

Words For Thought!!

Do you think YOU will pass it on???

        Hmmm...
One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting.

"Yes, sir, I just caught the world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait. I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you get done with them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly.

"How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll
take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you!! You don't want those people!!"

"How much?" He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your tears, and all your
blood."

Jesus said, "DONE!" Then He paid the price.

Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then
wonder why the world's going to hell.

Isn't it funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but
question what the Bible says.

Isn't it funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do
not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible says. Or is it scary?

Isn't it funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still
follow Satan (who, by the way, also "believes" in God).

Isn't it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail
and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages
regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Isn't it funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely
through cyberspace, but the public discussion of Jesus is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Isn't it funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on
Sunday, but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week.

Are you laughing?

Isn't it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will
not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Isn't it funny how I can be more worried about what other people
think of me than what God thinks of me.

Will YOU pass this on? .... I did.

Fury

From: ¤°¤§Ã®mþ£Ã¿®Âª¶Ã©Ã½¤°¤ (Original Message) - - - - 3/8/2003 7:45pm
Frustration pulsing through my body as anger rages ripping away at my very fiber. I scream and nobody hears. I cry and nobody listens.
This pain racing through my body a constant thirst to feel you beside me, holding me. I scream and still nobody hears. I cry and still nobody listens. Does anyone care about this slow burning torture that I myself am feeling? This anger coursing through my veins? The frustration lacing itself around my soul squeezing it until hopefully there is no more? I scream. I cry. They’ve heard me. They’ve listened to me. They simply do not feel it, nor do they care.

I have been in this situation many many times and,
I tend to agree that we go through life in silence, even tho we're screaming in utter agony, at the bitterness of our lives.
Seems a shame that no one stops to care or listen anymore to feelings of those living in such turmoil.......
Maybe that's the problem;
That there's no more caring, feeling, hearing people in this world!!

There are many folks out there that, see, care and do something about other's fury. We usually do so silently and with conviction. Fury is not good for you. Better to foster an attitude of 'Thanksliving.' That is, consider your surroundings. You are an American. You have hot and cold running water in at lest a two rooms in your home maybe 3 or more. You have separate rooms to sleep in, cook in, bath in, play in, and watch TV in. You have access to cheap, rapid transportation. You have more than you can eat or can easily get it. You have so much time on your hands, you can squander it on fury. You can openly make fun of your politicians anywhere, anytime. You can choose to agree with me, or disagree to almost any degree. We eat, breath and take for granted freedoms and riches the vast majority of the rest of the world consider unattainable, or often cannot even imagine. Life is grand. I pray that your fury is short, sweet and ultimately chanelled into something productive and wonderful.

At any given moment in one's life. Thier at time races within pain and strife. How I cope get through such difficult days, is working with kids they show me the way. Through the smile in their eyes, and the laughter in their voice. I see life as it meant to be lived, I only can make the choice. I choose to try daily to work that much more, to be nicer to people even if they make me upset or sore. Yes there still are out there people who care, not all people are blind most of themselves still share. Hold your head up strong do the best you can do. Look at each heart people wear, you see this too. There are good folks who will help us along the way, with a strong helping hand, or kind words that they  may say. So if helps just a little accept this  smile from me. If you need a helping hand just ask, I be there you will see.

My Nothingness!

"Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could....."

So from nothing I give nothing!!
My heart is slowly dying with nothing left to give.
How sad this day has become when nothing's all I am.
Nothing but despair, an emptiness of the person I once was.
No smiles to appear no more, no laughter to sing happiness!
Only utter sadness to fill my soul, quiet despair has taken it's toll!!
Stars and sunshine no longer exist...Only grey clouds and darkness in my mist.
I fear all hope is lost for me, nothing left to hope for!!
Why must the suffering go on with me.
Why can't smiles return to me!!
Must I hold back these tears of mine to hide away from my turmoil.
Will these tears be the death of me for keeping them hid so long from thee.
Oh the Depths of despair I see, will there be mo more light for me..
Am I destined to live my suffering here?
Will the sun ever shine again?
Will I always and forever be nothing more than a Nothing me?

Sometimes the darkness over whelms one, there becomes present a emptiness inside. Life it feels seems is full of dispairity. A sunshine arises as we look intensly upon it beholding the wonder and beauty, the darkness slowly drifts off away. The light warmth, it radiates opening one again too see the world with new eyes, the part inside of emptyness, fills with a new awakening beckons one forward. This is the cycle of a life, just as cycle of seasons in nature. Their is always new beginings and awakenings.

Friendship

 From: brattykelli - - - - 1/15/03 9:58am

LOVE starts with a SMILE, grows with a KISS, and ends with a TEAR.
DON'T cry over anyone who won't cry over you.
Good FRIENDS are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.
You can only go as far as you push.
ACTIONS speak louder than words.
The HARDEST thing to do is watch the one you love, love somebody else.
DON'T let the past hold you back, you're missing the good stuff.
LIFE'S SHORT. If you don't look around once in a while you might miss it.
A BEST FRIEND is like a four leaf clover, HARD TO FIND and LUCKY TO HAVE.
Some people make the world SPECIAL just by being in it.
BEST FRIENDS are the siblings God forgot to give us.
When it HURTS to look back, and you're SCARED to look ahead, you can look beside you and your BEST FRIEND will be there.
TRUE FRIENDSHIP "NEVER" ENDS. Friends are FOREVER.
Good friends are like STARS You don't always see them, but you know they are ALWAYS THERE.
DON'T frown. You never know who is falling in love with your smile.
What do you do when the only person who can make you stop crying is the person who made you cry?
Nobody is perfect until you fall in love with them.
Everything is okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end.
Most people walk in and out of your life, but only FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart.
Remember, every minute spent angry is sixty seconds of happiness wasted.

AWESOME PRAYER:
May today there be peace within you. May you trust God that you are exactly
where you are meant to be. "I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

12 Rules of Life

Posted by: brattykelli - - - - 1/13/03 12:12am
=================================================
Sometimes we just need to
Remember what the 12 Rules of Life really are...

1. Never Give Yourself a Haircut After Three Margaritas.

2. You need only two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

3. The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are
"I apologize" and "you are right."

4. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

5. Never pass up an opportunity to pee.

6. If he/she says that you are too good for him/her -- believe them.

7. Learn to pick your battles;
Ask yourself, "Will this matter one year from now?
How about one month?  One week?  One day?"

8. When you make a mistake, make amends immediately.
It's easier to eat crow while it's still warm.

9. If You Woke up Breathing, Congratulations! You have another chance!

10. Living Well Really is The Best Revenge.
Being miserable because of a bad or former relationship just might
mean that the other person was right about you.

11. Work is Good, but it's Not That Important.
Money is Nice, But You Can't Take It With You.
Statistics show most people don't live to spend all they saved
-- some die even before they retire.
And everything we have isn't really ours -- it was given to us by God;
He just lets us borrow it while we're here....even our kids.

12. And Finally ... Be Really Good To Your Family And/Or Friends.
You never know when you are going to need them to empty your bedpan.

Christmas think on it some

From: Cathie48 - - - - Sent: 12/23/2002 2:20 PM

It was a quiet moment before christmas,
Reflecting on a small thought.
Is Christmas just about gifts, presents we all bought?
As I grow older christmas' true message still rings clear.
Christmas is what we do each day of the year.
For all the money can't make christmas, not when its inside you or me.
The key lies within us that special feeling of giving of just ones self. This is richness of true christmas wealth.
The sharing of hearts being kind in the smallest even of way.
Makes christmas flourish beyond just this one day.
So think about its blessings, People are not truly counted in monetary value you know,
Count that good feeling thats inside just you as it grows.
Then you have sought out your own answer, what does christmas mean just to you.
That savoring feeling lingers then all the year through.
Do something for someone to just make them smile, they do then for another, thats makes christmas the most worthwhile.

My Heart's Secret Thoughts

I feel so alone today, so frightened and scared.
Wondering how you feel bout me.
My heart lies in a box of gold and glitter waiting for your love of me.
Am I too soon or am I too late?
No sign I see of being loved...
At least not of which is obvious...
No words, no Roses have I seen...
Caring and kindness:
Yes those are there.....but something seems to still be amiss...
The feeling
that I belong within your heart,
that I'm a part of your life...
This which seems to be missing...
at least from what I see.
Why do I cause myself to suffer so at these thoughts of fear...
Wishing to be loved and to belong being my greatest wish of all.
"I love you" seems to be so far away...As does Roses and feelings of belonging.
Fear and Anxiety are what i'm feeling now...Doesn't make sense to be this way.
Am I capable of being loved or is it just wishful thinking...
Lonliness is what I feel yet there is someone near(I think).
Oh How my thoughts wander so...This fear that grips my entire soul...
What am I to do to take this fear away.
Maybe nothing but sit and wait for my shining knight to make his move...
Patiently, fearfully,anxiously will I wait...
Even though my hearts hurts so deeply at not knowing what to do...
IF ONLY I KNEW WHERE THE KEY TO MY HEART BOX LIES...
*sighs*

What does one say. One can only say what the heart feels in the most honest way, The heart can express what words one can't say, by the touch upon us in a tender true way. The look with in a persons eyes, these are the doors to ones inner soul. Its when your heart connects to that heart you are richer more full. So what does one say, one only has to open wide there arms, embracing tightly closely that one they truly care for. Thats what one says, when there are no words any more.

Girl friend I loved your poem, and I love you..too..

LATE FEE CHARGES

My Aunt died this past January. Citi Bank billed her for February and March for their monthly service charge on her credit card, and then added late fees and interest on the monthly charge...the balance had been $0.00... now was somewhere around $60.00)
I placed the following phone call to CitiBank:

Me: "I am calling to tell you that she died in January."

CitiBank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply."

Me: "Maybe, you should turn it over to collections..."

CitiBank: "Since it is 2 months past due, it already has been."
Me: "So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?"

CitiBank: "Either report her account to the frauds division, or report her to the credit bureau...maybe both!"

Me: "Do you think God will be mad at her?"

CitiBank:"...excuse me .....?"

Me: "Did you just get what I was telling you.... the part about her being dead?"

CitiBank: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor!"

(Supervisor gets on the phone)

Me: ''I'm calling to tell you, she died in January."

CitiBank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply."

Me: "You mean you want to collect from her estate?"

CitiBank: ".....(stammer)" .... "Are you her lawyer?"

Me: "No, I'm her great nephew."
(Lawyer info given...)

CitiBank: "Could you fax us a certificate of death?"

Me: "Sure."
( Fax number is given )
( After they get the fax. )

CitiBank: "Our system just isn't setup for death..."

Me: "Oh..."

CitiBank: "I don't know what more I can do to help..."

Me: "Well... if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her... I suppose... don't really think she will care...."
CitiBank: "Well...the late fees and charges do still apply."

Me: "'Would you like her new billing address?"

CitiBank: "That might help."

Me: " ( Odessa Memorial Cemetery #### Hwy 129 and plot number given. )

CitiBank: "Sir, that's a cemetery!"

Me: "What do you do with dead people on your planet?!!"

Timeless Treasures

Timeless Treasures

==================

A Timeless Rose framed within,
Centered in a Heart so Deep,
Surrounded by Cherubs Sweet,
Wings of Gold for Embellishments,

Standing near the Precious view,
A Lady of Victorian beauty,
Standing with her Parasol,
Against a sky of Blue.

Her Eyes cast down upon the sight,
Of Roses laid upon her feet,
Sparkling beneath the Golden light,
A Heavens gift of Pure Delight.

Timeless Treasures to behold,
Upon the wall of this old home,
Covered in Roses far and wide,
The Memories here, so Entwined.

Mud puddles n dandelions

Mud puddles n dandelions Andyman 11/10/2002 3:29 PM
Big Mud Puddles and Sunny Yellow Dandelions
Author Unknown

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard.
My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away.
My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen.
My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk.
My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that.
My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets.
My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!
Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I wish you Big Mud Puddles and Sunny Yellow Dandelions!!!

No-One Sees & Shadow of Tears

10/14/2002 12:00 PM

No-One Sees
===========

No-one sees my tears, my pain

No-one hears me cry
No-one can feel my loneliness
No-one sees my heart die.

I sit alone in the dark at night
wondering and asking why
Feeling like a child-I'm lost
No-one sees me cry.

Shadow of Tears
================

In the shadows these tears I hide;
Silently weeping for my Dying Heart;
Loneliness sweeping over me;
Like waves from the incoming tide.

Once again a Childhood lost,
Questions without answers;
A Heart once again Lost.
When Will this cycle end?

This never-ending pain I feel;
My heart dying with no cure;
Of a Love I thought was true,
Disappearing away from view.

Will this viciousness ever stop?
Will Our Hearts ever Survive?
I wish this pain will stop!!
In the shadows, my tears I hide!

Lauren, I know all too well of which you speak and to your poem I added my own words as  we are both experiencing a death of which seems never-ending. Seems to be a disease with most; Of a heart being broken sometimes near death with no cure insight.
Seems we continually put our hearts at risk!!
*Sighs* Maybe one day A cure will be found for both of us!!

Tender Dreams and Silent Wishes

Frightened and scared at what has transpired; The loss of a Love so dear and true;
Her light simply extinguished no longer to shine. It was her last light, her last hope. She had given her all or so she thought. She thought that finally life would begin new for her, but her desire for happiness overpowered her patience. She tried to listen but found it difficult yet she knew she could do nothing. She forgot to listen with her heart instead allowed Her mind to rule. If only she had took the time to hear her heart, If only she could  have understood the signs. If.....One could hear her sighs in the dark of the night as she sat alone by the lake! Her heart bursting with each passing thought of him; each memory she held dear!! She thought...... if only she could take back the words she had said so hastily. How could she have been so mean! She didn't think of what she would lose, but spoke out of anger at the only real love she'd ever known. In this lonely silence; a lifeless form sat by the river bed just staring off into the sunset. Neither laughing nor crying. Her heart was too shattered for either. It seemed like a dream at first; like a bad nightmare of fear; but the sting of those final words stung too deeply for it not to be real.
She was holding on to a stuffed bear belonging to her love, given to her in happy times. Hoping to find some comfort there, but there was none. Her hear wound was deep and badly scarred. The Light had completely gone out. Only he would be able to renew that light.
She felt as if she died a thousands deaths, eaach one more painful then the first.
How she wished she could bring happiness back but it all seemed like a lost cause.
She sat for hours just staring at the water, clutching the bear in her grasp not wanting to ever let go...
Finally after many long hours; slowly and painfully she was able to get up and walk back to her home, Her head hung low with sadness, Her heart destroyed beyond repair. How again she hoped for days of yesterday when they were happy and free.
A very tiny glimmer of hope started to glow, yet quickly went out. Too tired and spent from the days events she made her way slowly onward in hopes that she'll wake to find ; that indeed this had been a very frightening nightmare; and that her love would still be waiting for her in their usual meeting spot.

Alone in the silence her tears she cried.
As she pondered on the reason of one question why.
In this life the heart can break into two.
But alas after a dormant sleep a heart begins to renew.
There will be another to open again a sleeping quiet heart. That will love you as you are from the very start.
The mind reads logic unlike the words a heart hears.
The voice of a open accepting heart again draws love so near.
Its listening to your heart that calms away frightened fears.
When opening the heart to trust again, one can find love perhaps in the eyes in a new found friend.
Let the emotions of your heart again still feel, that in this world that we live in loves still alive and so real. For then when we let the heart heal. love can again begin to grow.
At times the process is hard long so slow.
Paitence, compassion and accpetance makes the heart again know.
That love will find you again the heart flourishes to grow.

Most of you are probably too young to remember these....but there just may be a few out there that remember.
( I'm waaaaay to young...lol)

You took a "moonlight cruise" to Bob-Lo with Captain Bob-Lo or took the bus to Edgewater Amusement Park, or rode the coaster at Jefferson Beach.

You remember cheering from one end of the tunnel to the other while going to Belle Isle.

The big stove was on Jefferson Ave at the entrance to Belle Isle.

You rented bikes or rode horses or the horse drawn carriages on Belle Isle.

You golfed after dark at the lighted Belle Isle par three course, played tennis(?) on the lighted courts too!

You shopped at Hughes and Hatcher, B. Siegel, Peck and Peck, Himelhoch's, Federal's, or Berlin's.

The "Street Cars" ran on tracks down the center of Gratiot.

The "car barns" were at Gratiot and Harper and the turntable was called "Ca-ga- looop."

You've ever played on the escalator at J. L. Hudson's downtown.

You rode the elevator, which was "run" by an elevator operator.

You remember when Eastland and Northland were NEW and not enclosed malls.

You remember any mayors other than Young and Archer and you know who Cobo was.

You remember what you were doing when you got word there was a "riot" going on.

You remember a Winkleman's store! in your neighborhood.

You thought driving to Southfield, was going "out to the country."

You remember the mineral bath smell of Mt. Clemens.

You remember the "Big Snow." Buffalo Bob, Howdy Doody, Clarabell, Phineas T. Bluster, Princess Winter-fall-summer-spring.

Plunk your magic twanger, froggy! "Hi ya, Hi ya, hi Ya kids!"

You remember Twin Pines Dairy delivered milk and juice to the chute on the side of your house ... and Milky the Clown performed magic with the magic words "Twin Pines."

You remember the Good Humor man in a white uniform and bow tie, ringing the bells and riding down your street.

You saw Marvin Gaye sing at the Olympia Stadium or the Twenty Grand Lounge.

Sock Hops at Notre Dame High School with Lee Allen, Stevie Wonder, Bob Seger and the Last Heard or the Rationals.

You remember Olympia Stadium.

Waterford was where your neighbors cottage was.

You remember when Vernor's was made on Woodward and the bearded troll was on the bottle.

You drank Towne Club pop (or Grilli's or Oh-So or Atlas).

You bought groceries at Big Bear, Great Scott, Lipson's, Dixfield's, National or Chatham's.

Your Mom saved Holden Red Stamps, S&H Green Stamps or Gold Bell Stamps.

Kresge's and Woolworth's were "DIME STORES!"

Silverstein's was like going to a candy store for all of the Army and Navy surplus stuff.

Your school took a bus trip to "the cider mill" and had donuts and cider after the tour.

Your school took a bus trip to Kellogg's in Battle Creek.

You had an Uncle in the furniture business (Joshua Doore).

You know who Bill Kennedy is.

You shopped at Arlans, Shopper's Fair, Federals, Korvettes.

You remember this telephone number: Tyler 8-7100 (Belvedere Construction) and the slogan "We do good work."

Your phone number may have started with Lakeview, Tyler, Kenwood, Diamond, Trinity, Twinbrook, Melrose, Madison, Townsend, Plaza, Prescott, Olive, Walnut or Cadillac.

You saw the Detroit Lions play football in Tiger Stadium or if you're a little older, Brigg's Stadium.

You remember this phrase "suga is suga and salt is salt, if you didn't get off it's not my fault."

You shopped at Crowley's.

You remember Black Bart, and the Faygo pop song being sung on the Bob-Lo boat. "Which way did he go? Which way did he go?"

You watched Rita Bell's Prize Movie.

You know who Sonny Elliot is. Do you remember him using the chalk on a map of Michigan (and "Enga-dinga dinga-dine")? Or holding snakes at the Children's zoo on Belle Isle?

You remember Jack LeGoff, Van Patrick, or George Perot.

You remember Soupy Sales, Johnny Ginger, The Friendly Giant, Jingles, Mr. Dressup, Poopdeck Paul and Captain Jolly.

You visited the Wonder Bread Bakery and got to take home a mini loaf of bread but, you weren't cool unless you ate Silvercup bread.

You have a picture of yourself sitting on the pony that seemed to make it down everyone's street.

Your zip code was only one or two digits - Detroit 19, Michigan

You had a (Shaffer's) breadman and a (Brickley's) milkman.

We knew a Twin Pines milk man and a Jewel Coffee man and a Fuller Brush Man.

You remember "Stay on the right track, to 9 Mile and Mack. Roy O'brien trucks and cars make you money back"

You remember the PURE and GULF gas stations. The "Gas Wars."

Gas for seventeen cents a gallon.

Your house had a laundry chute and a milk chute, maybe even a coal chute.

You remember Primo's Pizza or Carbone's Pizza, The Red Barn, Powers, Henry's, Top Hat, Herc's Beef Buffet, Big Boy's Drive-In, Tom's Tavern and Ted's 5x5, the Totem Pole or Richard's drive-in.

You attended a wedding reception or a banquet at Roma Hall.

You banked at Detroit Bank & Trust or National Bank of Detroit.

If you remember all of this you are definitely an OLD Detroiter!

Guess I may be an old phart --
I lived 4 blocks from Eastland -- the outside strip shopping center... and they had a "carnival" in the parking lot from time-to-time.
Went to Shopper's Fair, Arlans, and Winklemans.
Wasn't allowed to watch Soupy Sales because he was too silly
Poop-Deck Paul and Captain Jolly were my heros at 5 pm on Channel 9 for Popeye.
Listened to CKLW on am transister radio
The "Sunday Drive" was out Utica Road to the "cookie factory".
There was a little airport (airfield) at 14 and Ryan Road.
8 Mile Road only had two lanes each direction.
Walked or took the DSR bus to school (and had to transfer buses on the way)
Remember the push-button transmission in the Dodge Dart (kewl car with "fins")
Remember sitting in art class when hearing about the President being shot - and the class praying for him to make it (and it was a public school).
The Amboy Dukes (Ted Nugent) playing at my high school dance.
The dress code in school being abolished in 12th grade
Went to the Olympia to watch the Junior Red Wings followed by the regular Wings
Remember my first "black" teacher -- Miss Ruby Jones -- in Junior High School typing class  (in fact, only had three blacks teachers my entire school lifetime and one was an intern)
Driver's training was all on school property in their driver's training lot (complete with traffic light).
School milk was in glass bottles -- 2 cents for white, 3 cents for chocolate
